My son flushed down the toilet and it won't flush?

What can I do? He stuck I am estimating 4 squishy water (that kind that hold water and you squeeze them and the water comes out) down the toilet and I guess flushed it and now it wont flush...just fills up with water. Is there any way to save it or do I need to replace the toilet?
